Programming on days 10 and 11 covers ethics, cancer, palliative care, policy and finance

On Thursday and Friday (10 and 11), at the Bioparque Pantanal, in Campo Grande, the CRO-MS (Regional Dental Council of Mato Grosso do Sul) will hold the first Dental Symposium of the Mato Grosso do Sul Hospital. The meeting brings together dental surgeons, academics and professionals from the hospital network to discuss the region’s performance within the hospitals. The program includes lectures and panels on ethics, cancer care, palliative care, and the integration of health professionals and finance.
On July 10 and 11, CRO-MS will hold its first dental symposium at the Mato Grosso do Sul Hospital in the Bioparque Pantanal, in Campo Grande. This event brings together dental surgeons and hospital professionals to discuss ethics, oncology, palliative care and funding by SUS. Registration is free, but places are sold out. The event also receives donations of diapers from seniors to benefit Santa Casa de Campo Grande.
The program begins at 8:30 a.m. Thursday with Juliana Franco, dental coordinator at the Heart Institute at Hospital das Clínicas of the University of the South Pacific School of Medicine. A lecture will be presented on the ethical challenges facing dental care within the hospital environment. At 10:45 am, the panel discussion will expand to include the relationship between dentistry and other medical specialties.
In the afternoon, at 1:30 PM, Fabio Luiz Corasin addresses dental care for patients with oncological and hematological diseases. Corasin works in the fields of hospital dentistry and oral and maxillofacial diseases, in addition to teaching at Anhangira College. At 3:45 p.m., specialists discuss the multidisciplinary approach to these patients.
Day 2 begins at 8 a.m. with Sumatra Milo da Costa, MD, Dental Coordinator of the Interdisciplinary Palliative Care Residency and the Temporomandibular Joint Disorders and Orofacial Pain Residency at the University of the South Pacific School of Medicine. The lecture covers dental management of patients under palliative care. At 10:30 a.m., a panel will discuss the joint work of doctors and dentists in caring for people in the final stages of life.
The hospital’s dental funding will be listed at 1:30 p.m., with Alser José de Oliveira Jr., General Coordinator of Oral Health at the Ministry of Health. The presentation addresses the resources needed to maintain and expand this type of care within hospitals. The topic also includes the organization of oral health procedures in the SUS (Unified Health System).
The program ends at 3:45 pm with a discussion session on integrating hospital dentistry into clinical practice. The discussion should address the challenges of integrating dentists into hospital patient monitoring teams. The symposium also provides a space for public policy discussion and the participation of various health fields in hospital care.
Registration for the meeting is free, but places have already sold out, according to the organization. The target audience includes dental surgeons, students and professionals working in the hospital network. During the two days, the event also receives donations of diapers for seniors directed to Santa Casa de Campo Grande.
